APPROACH

When the world turns to Africa, we will already be there

The Thesis

Africa is not under-resourced. It is under-invested. MISA Group exists to change that.

Africa’s median age is nineteen, the youngest on earth, entering its most productive decades as the rest of the world ages. It holds a third of the planet’s critical minerals and some of the world’s richest energy resources, and by 2050 will be home to 2.5 billion people, one in four alive.* The talent and the resources are here, and the demand is coming. What is missing is reliable energy infrastructure.

No economy industrialises without energy. Primary energy sits upstream of everything: power for factories, fuel for transport and minerals processed in-country rather than exported raw. Africa is rich in these assets, yet realises little of what that wealth could yield.

What it lacks is patient capital and partners who grow alongside it.

This is the gap MISA exists to close.

HOW WE OPERATE

Patient. Local. Focused.

We build businesses that bridge conventional and new energy, anchored by deep local partnerships, disciplined risk management and a long-term perspective.

Patient.

We hold for the long-term. We compound our earnings and reinvest for growth.

On the ground.

We invest where we operate. We prioritise local knowledge.

Partner led.

We back African operators with deep market knowledge. We bring capital, structure, and connectivity.

Focused.

We exclusively invest in Africa. We don't get distracted. We hold high conviction majority positions.

WHAT WE INVEST IN

African energy

01 Trading

Fossil fuels, base oils and lubricants, biofuels and power. Three decades of operating presence tell us where the bottlenecks are and where the next opportunity lies.

02 Infrastructure

Retail stations, blending, storage and power generation. Patient capital deployed into the physical backbone that moves energy and goods across the continent.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Investment opportunities that fit

01

Sit within African energy, infrastructure, or the markets that connect them.

02

Are led by experienced operators with deep local knowledge.

03

Suit a long hold and benefit from an engaged owner. Need a partner, not just a cheque.

04

Have a trading angle. This provides short term capital to turbo charge long term growth.

05

Deliver social impact alongside financial return.

AND ALONGSIDE OUR INVESTMENTS

Philanthropy

We believe in a world where local leadership, resources and agency grow, and reliance on external aid diminishes. Africa’s future is built locally, not delivered from outside. Through two foundations, we back the people already doing the work on their terms, not ours.

We fund in three ways:

Overheads that make this work possible.

Unglamorous but essential costs that struggle to attract funding.

Seed-funding systems-change.

Early capital for ideas that shift how a whole sector works, not just patch a single gap.

Direct funding to locally-led NGOs.

Unrestricted, core funding straight to locally-led organisations already trusted on the ground.
